I delivered flowers to her office every Friday. She never knew they were from me.
Anonymous bouquets for six months. She fell in love with the flowers first. Then the delivery guy.
The first bouquet was an accident.
Wrong floor. Wrong name.
She opened the door and her face did something I wasn't prepared for.
She lit up.
I corrected the address and left.
But her face stayed with me.
That night I placed an order.
Anonymous. Her office. Every Friday.
Week one: sunflowers.
Week two: white roses.
Week three: daisies with a card that said just because.
She started asking me about them.
I'm the delivery guy. She thought I'd know.
Who sends these?
I shrugged. No name on the order.
She looked disappointed.
Then she smelled the daisies and smiled again.
I carried that smile down three flights of stairs.
By week twelve she was waiting at the door every Friday.
Not for the flowers.
For me. She just didn't know it yet.
