The Last Message At 2:13 a.m., Daniel’s phone vibrated on the
nightstand.Unknown number.
"Don’t turn around."
He frowned.
Probably a prank. His apartment was silent except for
the ticking
clock on the wall. He picked up the phone again.
Another message
appeared.
"I’m inside."
Daniel felt a cold wave run down his
spine. He slowly stood up and
looked toward the dark hallway.
Nothing. Just shadows.
"Who is this?"
he typed.
The reply came instantly.
"You left the door unlocked."
His heart
started pounding. Daniel rushed to the front door.
It was locked.
He checked the windows—closed. His phone buzzed again.
"Too
late."
The lights suddenly went out. In the darkness, Daniel
heard a whisper right
behind him:
"Now you can turn around."
