Six Children Murdered by Their Own Father
A narcissistic psychopath deliberately set fire to his house with his six children trapped inside, motivated by greed for welfare payments and custody revenge. An arson plot that ended in unthinkable tragedy.
They say every child deserves a parent.
But not every parent deserves a child.
Mick Philpot saw his children as cash cows.
Not as humans who needed his protection.
He was a psychopath who destroyed everything around him.
And in 2012, his greed led to the deaths of six young children.
Mick Philpot was born in 1956 in Derby, England.
He fathered 17 children with multiple women.
Not because he loved them.
Because he loved the government benefits they brought in.
At 19, he met Kim Hill, just 15 years old.
He charmed her at first.
Then the violence started.
He struck me with a pool cue across my mouth. I bled everywhere.
No one intervened. No one helped.
He broke her arm with a hammer.
He fractured her kneecap.
He shot her in the groin with a crossbow because her dress was too short.
In July 1978, Kim finally tried to leave.
She sent him a breakup letter.
He broke into her home and attacked her in bed.
He stabbed her 27 times with a 9 inch knife.
If I can't have you, no one else will.
Kim's mother tried to stop him.
He stabbed her 11 times too.
Kim died twice in the ambulance.
Once on the operating table.
Surgeons found her stomach slit open.
Her lungs collapsed. Her bladder punctured.
Her kidney and liver stabbed.
Yet Philpot claimed self defense at trial.
He was found guilty of attempted murder.
But he served just three years and two months.
Early release for good behavior.
He told me from prison: marry me when I get out.
I said no to him. I still receive counseling four decades later.
In 1986, after his release, Philpot married Pamela Lax.
Three children together.
The abuse never stopped.
I knew what he did to Kim. I prayed he would leave me.
He did. For someone else.
In 1993, Philpot met Heather Kio.
She was 14 years old.
He was 37.
She ran away from her parents to be with him.
He beat her for not having daughters.
He taught his older sons to be violent toward her.
He held a knife to her throat when she tried to leave.
He was Jekyll and Hyde. Charming at first. Then violent.
She escaped by climbing over the fence.
