Our Last Summer | Part 1
“Our Last Summer” is a romantic, nostalgic story about two young people who fall deeply in love during one unforgettable summer. They spend their days together exploring the beauty of youth, freedom, and first love, believing their bond will last forever. But as the season ends, life forces them in different directions. Distance, time, and growing responsibilities slowly pull them apart, turning what once felt eternal into a memory. Years later, they meet again and are reminded of everything they once had—the laughter, the promises, and the pain of what they lost. The story becomes a reflection on how some loves stay with us forever, even if they don’t last a lifetime. It’s emotional, bittersweet, and focused on the idea that sometimes the most beautiful moments are the ones that don’t last.
Ethan had always hated moving.
New town. New school. New people.
It was the middle of summer when his family arrived.
The small coastal town felt endless and empty.
Most days were spent alone, walking along the beach.
Counting the days until school started.
One evening, Ethan found himself at an old pier.
Watching the sunset paint the sky in gold and amber.
That's when he noticed her.
A girl sitting at the edge, sketching in a notebook.
A sudden gust of wind caught her pages.
A sheet tore free and tumbled down the pier.
Without thinking, Ethan chased after it.
He caught it just before it hit the water.
Got it!
She laughed, a sound like music.
Thanks. That was my favorite drawing.
For the first time since moving, Ethan smiled.
I'm Ethan.
Sophia.
They sat on the pier as the sun disappeared below the horizon.
Hours felt like minutes.
When the town lights finally flickered on, Sophia stood up.
Same place tomorrow?
Definitely.
As she walked away, he watched her go.
Then he saw something written on her sketchbook cover.
Summer Bucket List.
And next to it: 23 things to do before summer ends.
Neither of them knew it yet, but that list was about to change both of their lives forever.
